As a fervent consumer of technology news and podcasts, I feel like I am constantly bombarded with the term “digital transformation” these days. It seems to be the catchphrase du jour for technology integration and staying relevant and competitive in our current business environment.

Question: Is ‘digital transformation’ really sufficient enough to capture the change companies need, or is it setting an expectation of digital homeostasis?

For starters, the term “transformation” implies a finish line. Your company goes through a digital transformation, and then, ostensibly, you’re equipped for the future.

There was a day (I remember it well) when updating your tech meant installing a new computer server, with a couple of new computers, new software, and maybe a new phone system. And then you’re set to go back about your business, now with your shiny new version of Minesweeper.
